Hi,

A bit of a long shot but here goes...

I'm looking for a way to find which documents contain hyperlinks to a certain document, at the moment I'm going through each document and checking each hyperlink. But was just wondering if there was a way to either find documents linked to the document or scan all files in a certain location to find a certain hyperlink. The documents are either .doc or .docx. We are using office 2010 but some documents have yet to be converted from office 2000 to 2010.

Thanks in advance,

Mick.

Hi Sxschech,

Thanks for the link, I've tried the software but it doesn't seem to search for hyperlinks, I've looked at the help but can't see anything specifically for hyperlinks, do you know if there's anything special I need to do?

Regards,
Mick.

Your initial post indicated that you were looking for "documents contain hyperlinks to a certain document". That made it seem as if the link is the same in all cases, so knowing that link you would type or paste it into the "Containing Text" box of the file locator. If you don't know the name of the link and you only want to know what files contain hyperlinks, couldn't you put as much or as little of the hyperlink. For example, if all your links start as \\servername\documents, could you enter \\servername\documents and that would bring up all the files that contain it. Of course if your documents use the phrase in cases other than a hyperlink, then that may not work so well.
