You should be able to talk to the SMDR from a Norstar Phone using Feature 9*2
From the SMDR menu you can set the baud rate, record format, and much more.
Does any one know if there is a way to password protect the SMDR to keep anyone on the system from entering Feature 9*2 and changing the settings? The FastRAD requires a password if one has been set when Feature 9** is used to program it, but the SMDR does not have a similar feature.
I agree. This is a big problem for me. Several times either the SMDR has defaulted back to 1200 SL-1 or some user is accidently/deliberately doing this and I have lost many days of call accounting data. If you find a way to protect this, let us know...
Yes you can restrict 9*2 from any telephone. I tried it on my bench and it can work fine.
Set restriction filter set up is contained in the customer administration manual. Since your system details are not posted I don't know which method to use. There may be interactions with line pool codes. If you don't have an administration manual, contact a vendor to obtain one. It will be money well spent.
