'Find and Replace' not working properly

I'm trying to find and replace instances of non-working code with working code; when I execute, the utility says it has searched through all pages in a site or folder but finds no occurrences, and thus, makes no replacements. It works when executing while a single page is open, though it gives no indication that anything has been replaced (though it has). Any clues as to how to make it search and replace in all pages at once?
