Suppose this setup

2 computers connected to a switch

how can you find the other computer his IP when you only have his MAC

arp -a doesn't count since you can't ping him (hence you don't know the ip)

the other computer is not broadcasting anything

If you have an answer to this question does it work when the other computer resides on another ip range ???

let me know

thanx

Do a 'show arp' on the switch. It should give you the IP to MAC correlation.

Indeed i fogot to mention the type of switch is important. But it's a non-manageble switch.....

thanx for the answers
