I see the final cut pro 4 software requires 384/512MB of memory. Since it will cost another $200 to go from 512 to 1gig is it work it from anyone who has used the product out there?
It's worth it. OSX is a hog anyway, and video editing is ram intensive. I use a little apple called menu-meters to show my current cpu, ram, and network usuage. After using FCP4 for a while, between it, photoshop, my email program, and OSX, it chews up most of my gig of ram. Right now my system with only safari and etourage running, is using 299megs.
YES!!! Get as much RAM as you can. You also need a hoot of a lot of free hard drive space for capturing and rendering. I need to buy another external firewire HD.
There never seems to be enough power.
It's a conspiracy.
