I tried to use the lighting effects filter, but everytime I do, the entire background turns black. How can I keep my background color?

maybe a trick using the alpha channels?

Hi,

Just like I posted in your other question, use a marquee around the area you wish to apply lighting effects to then add the lighting effects. Only the area inside the marquee will be affected and you can keep your background color.

You can use quick mask and alpha channels to make your selection marquee.

Hope this helps! NATE
