Hi,

ARCserve seems to completly ignore certain filters. Backnig up a machine on our LAN using the Universal agent I can not get it to filter out certain files. I would like the backup job status to end with something other than Incomplete. (but I guess it's better than Failed which also seems to happen alot :)

Excluding the same file from other servers works but there are 2 machines out of 8 that fail to use the filters. Does anyone have any ideas please??

We are running-
ARCserve server:
ARCserve 2000 SP4 running on W2k Server SP3
HP LTO 1/9 tape auto loader
Clients:
Win2k server SP2 or SP3
Universal Client Agent

Thanks,

Matt

How are you writing the filter? -----------------------------------------------------

Hi TheLad,

From the root of the server (not from any hard drive) the filter is set to:

Exclude File pattern C:\WINNT\directoryname\filename

I'm trying to exclude specific files not entire directories. The same filter on other machines works. (most of the time). Just to make things more fun, I can tell you thast the filters did work for about a month after they were first applied, and now havn't worked for about 4 months. I have removed and readded them too with no luck.In the 4 months they didn't work, the SP4 has been applied which made no difference.

Thanks for you assistance.

Matt
