We have in our company a proxy called Browse Gate that all its doing really, is to not allow users to connect to other sites apart from those we allow which is near 2000 sites.
The problem is that the proxy is very slow doing the job, and we starting to have some complains.
Anyone know any other way of doing this?.
The computers are in a Library and the Director does not want people to access sites like hotmail.com, playboy.com and so on.
Even if someone know other thing that can do what we need would be great.
thanks

When you have too many rules, and big files with authorised sites, then it is normal your connection to be slow.
Try to fix some rules based on words in URLs. Don't keep a list with trusted sites.

Or you can use I-Gear from Symantec, or Cyber Patrol, but this depends also of the proxy that you are using. These software, will give you more flexibility. But, here also, if you will use too many rules, then your system will be overloaded.

Try to find a balance between the power of your server and the rules that you can have. Try starting with a basic confiuration, then test, then add a new rule,. etc. Gia Betiu
