Hello. I wrote yesterday about a filter problem I am having. I went to school for finance not computers so when people responded to me the assumed I knew what they were talking about...or that they sent me to check out information somewhere else. I am sure they understood it or was able to extract the information and relate it more easily to my needs than I am. It honestly just confused me more. I guess what it boils down to is one question...."Is it possible to filter a main form by a field located in a subform within that main form?"...Can anyone advise on the "easiest way to accomplish this, explaining in the easiest way possible." I've tried, buttons(per people on other forums), switching to datasheet view(per Microsoft), code (Cutting & pasting the best I could), etc. and nothing has worked.

I want be able to weed out sales rep territories and save copies of the main form with this filter so that sales reps only have access to their territory (by state). I've done it all. Microsoft says it's possible...but when I use their method, nothing filters...possibly the relationships are set up wrong...but they appear to be functional. Please help, for I am one of the sales reps that needs to start travelling soon, and this little summer project to help myself and fellow reps make life easier...turned out to be the biggest pain in my *ss!

I'd be eternally grateful.

hi madetoheal13,
this is a bit of a strange question. You want to filter a mainform, based on a field from the subform. Well, if this field is not also on the main form, or at least in the table/query where the form is based on, there is no way, and better: there is no point.
