OUTLOOK 2000 shows in the lower left hand corner that I have 2143 items, 14 unread when I am looking at the INBOX. I know for a fact that there are only 44 items there and 4 unread. No more no less. I look at my filter options and even though I had a filter on for showing received messages, when I take it off there are no more messages showing up.

In other words the 2143 items are no where to be found. These are not messages that were in the deleted folder - cuz I Deleted those also.

Is this a bug in OUTLOOK ??? Bottom line -- How do I get these "phantom' items to be removed?????

Try (with outlook closed):

Start-->Run and type:

outlook.exe /cleanviews

If you get "can't find the file", you may need to include the path to the Outlook executable file. Let us know if you need help with that.
