Hi

This is a problem that has perplexed me for years and I have finally decided to ask about it.

I have a lot of folders with photographs in them.

Some times I can get it to show them in Windows Explorer in Film Strip View and some times I can't.

Just the morning I loaded a bunch of .jpgs from my Nikon into a new subfolder for a book I am working on.

I have a number of subfolders under the main folder with pictures taken at different times but all related to this project.

Most of these pictures were taken with the same camera and all of them are in .jpg format. These are large files about 28 mb. each.

The folder that I created this morning will only show the photos as thumbnails the “Film Strip” option is not available. If I open another of the folders in the group it does show the photos as a film strip.

Why is this happening?

Like I said I have run into this for years and never figured out why.

Mike

See if anything here helps?

Filmstrip View Is Not Available

Picture Tasks Options and Filmstrip View Not Available on a CD-RW Drive

"View pictures as a filmstrip" is a Help and Support article too.

"You need to set a folder customization.

Right-click the folder and select Properties from the context menu.
Select the Customize tab.
Under "Use this folder type as a template:", select either Photo Album or Pictures and click OK.
From the Windows Explorer View menu, select Filmstrip to view the pictures from within the selected folder".

Hi Linney

Thanks for the help.

That did it.

Once I selected pictures the film strip option became available.

In all the years that I have been using Windows XP I don’t think I ever looked at the folder customization tab!

For some reason sometimes it would automatically configure as pictures on its own.

Thanks again….

Mike
