I am assigning various colors to different parts of my facility by using invisible borders and then trying to fill that with a color. I use invisible lines to completely seal off a little box. However, the color won't appear inside the border. Is there a way to do this? Please help! Thanks!

What you say should be working. Could you post step-by-step the process you are using?

I should have also asked, What version of Visio are you using?

Dave-
I figured out how to do my last post, however, now I have come across a new problem. I am making an irregular shape with the line tool and sealing the shape off. The shape ends where it begins. I want to make this shape filled with a color, but I want to see my Visio drawing too. The way it happens right now, I fill an area but the color completely covers the diagram. Is there any way to fill an area with a color but still see the drawings too, kind of like how a highlighter on paper works? Please help! Thanks Dave!

Congratulations! How did you figure out your first post?

For your second post, the only thing I can think of is to move the irregular shape to the bottom layer. This should give an appearance somewhat the same as highlighting. To move a shape to the bottom layer, right-click on the shape, then select "Shape" and "Send to back". You could even format the fill patterns of the individual shapes to "None" to make them transparent so the color of the irregular shape shows through them.

Two options for the solid colour hiding features.
1) Send the Coloured shape to the very back.
2) In Visio 2002 you can use transparent colours.

The problem with not being able to fill a shape is that the shape was not a closed shape. Three lines may appear to form a rectangle, but if the the three lines are not joined, the shape is open and can not be filled.
