Fill With Zeros

Does anyone know how to fill with zeros as placeholders. For example an article number is 000-123-45 but in a drop down box it shows as 123-45_-__ if you use a mask like ###-###-##. This is because the actual data in the tbl is 12345. Any ideas??

The only way I have been able to do that is by changing the data type to text.

You're on the right lines - just use zeroes instead of hashes - 000-000-000
