files in Content.ie5 will not delete!

I've got these three folders in the Temporary Internet folder that contains these strange .gif files. I'm thinking that they are spyware of some sort, but I am unable to delete them. The file name is very long and it won't let me copy it either, so I can paste it here - so I'm going to attempt to type it...

'activity;src=668059;met=1;v=1;pid=11243662;aid=15751602;ko=0;cid=9925354;fir=9943250;rv=2;&timestamp=11136950929360;eid1=2' etc - it keeps going and going...

Does anyone know what these are and how I can get rid of them? I've run both Ad-aware & Spybot and they don't fix it. I've tried using Wipe Eraser and it won't delete it that way either. I'd prefer not to do a hard drive reformat if I don't have to.

I'd close all applications and try yo delete temporary Internet files from IE.

Then I'd try safe mode.

Hit it with this. I've yet to have it fail...worst case scenario, you have to set it to delete on reboot:

if you haven't gotten anything to work yet, try using Spider:

it requires a reboot.

To solve this, i've always booted into safe mode and removed the folders.
