Files & Folders disappearing

Hello,

I have got a Dell 500SC (file server), with 2 x 60GB IDE Hard Drives.

Folders and files from a network share are mysteriously disappearing.

I cannot see anything in the event logs, has anyone experienced something like this? or have any ideas to what may be causing them to disappear.

The users who have rights to these folder and files have not deleted or moved them.

Are you sure the users haven't deleted these folders. If a user deletes a folder from within a network share it will not go to the recycle bin, it will just go. Also nothing will be entered in the event log.
 
Hi,

I too thought it was probably the users, but there are only 4 users that have access, and they assure me they have not deleted them. The documents which have gone missing are very important to the users.

is there any tool available that allows tracing or logging of file actvity on the file server?
