files does not exist on Qmail install

I am running mandrake 9.1 and I followed the directions on Life with Qmail to a "T" [twice]
when I start I get the message that the qmail-send and smtp diretory
do not exist. I check the link setup in the service folder and they
take me to the right location.
I have installed 0.76 daemon tools.
I am just now lost.
any help would be appreciated.

try to forcebly installing the package by giving the command
rpm -ivh <package name> --force
