Files configurations for Network board and description

For the first time ,I am installing a new server (test,learning) Red hat 6.2, The installation is ok.
Now I want to configure ne Network board (Realtec 8139).
In mode Shell , what are all the configuration files(ex.
sysconfig/network,network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0,etc..) that I need for my board works (ping) ok. I also, where can I get information(explanation) about each parameter of these files?

Are you asking how to configure networking or are you asking where to find reference info on the files involved? It sounds like you know which files are involved so I'm not sure what you're having trouble with.

Hey Ely,

I would recommend the Sams Linux Unleashed series as a good reference (I have the RH 6 copy). You could do a search on the web and find info regarding most of the files but I think something like the Sam's book would give you a better understanding of what you're trying to do. The acutal configuration will be pretty simple as you just need to configure your ip, subnet mask, default gateway, and dns server. I believe the 8139 chipset will be auto-detected so I don't think you'll need to do any configuring of it. I originally put a line in my /etc/conf.modules for my realtek 8139 but I believe now it was unnecessary.

I could send you an example of these files if that would help but I don't know of any one good tutorial on all of what you're looking to learn.
