Im confused on how to use Filemaker server do, i am trying to put a database on the server from a laptop but am having difficulty locating any options that will let me put the database file on the server.

Also does anyone know a reference book for FM server?

Ok i have figured out putting the database on but still wondering how do i open the database from other computers on the network that do not have filemaker server.

I Currently have the datbase open in server on the host computer but do not see an actual database pop up
In the datbase view of FileMaker Server i have the datbases folder under file and then the file of the actual datbase
and its status is set to normal and has 0 clients.
Im lost on how this software is supposed to allow a workgroup that has filemaker pro on each of its computers access this datbase.
The privellege sets on filemaker pro file allow users to connect to the database through fm server

every time i try to open remotely it does not show the folder and file for the datbase i am trying to open from another computer.

Did you set the sharing properties? I won't share if you don't tell it to. You need to share the database in the FMS program, but you also need to share the folder on the server where you have the database, so you can see it on the computer. I know you can make a script to keep on the computer desktop that will open the server database, but I don't know how to write it.
