Anyone know when V7 is coming out? Is it going to change it's file system to that of a "standard" relational database such as MS SQL? Also, does anyone know if you will be able to query V7 using standard SQL through an ODBC connection?

Thanks!

yes...full relational...single file.
probably not as it is not native SQL.

Looks like a new version of Filemaker is now on the Horizon. I have recently been speaking to tech support in uk and they hinted a new product is not far away but would not say exactly when it was expected. Could be next month or so.

ODBC was and probably will be a piece of -----. I ma guessing it will be good for some querries but not over a web load. it was neber a "live" ODBC...I used a few times but querries were only 2 leverls deeps and would not return results all the time.....works great for import/export.
I think that XML will still have more power than goign through ODBC.
Anyhow....V 7 will be here sooner or later :)
All the best!

how far apart was the last release (filemaker 6) from filemaker 5? is it usually consistent with releases?
we're looking to update our older version and wondering if 7 is worth holding out for or not, depending on release.

There's a conference in the next couple of weeks, so I imagine the release will be quite soon.
