Hi all,

I am a novice user of Filemaker Pro 6.0 and I have a problem which I was hoping someone here could help me with.

so we set up a database using Filemaker Pro 6.0 for Mac OS X (10.3.8).
It works fine. The problem starts when it gets accessed through the
network.  If two people (or more I guess) have the file open at the
same time only the person who accessed it first is able to modify it.
I checked, and all the permissions are set to "read and write" for all
the folders it is contained in.

Inside Filemaker i went to  File > Sharing. In "sharing" there are 3
options: single user, multi-user, and multi-user (hidden). "Single
user" is selected and the others (which I want) are grayed out.  There
is also a message which reads "Files cannot currently be shared with
FileMaker Networking because you have not selected a  network protocol
in the Application Preferences dialog."  Cool, so I went to  FileMaker
Pro > Preferences > Application, hoping to change my "network
protocol."  In the "general" tab of the application preferences I
tried to change the "network protocol."  However, it displays no other
options other than "<none>,"  so now I am stuck.

Any help would be super appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance for reading all of that and helping.

You can only 'change' your network protocl if there IS a network protocol.
You installed FM without network protocol, and without sharing possibilities...

Re-install FM, this time with network protocol TCP/IP and you're out of problems.
