Hi,

I have a Crystal report v8. I have a text object in which i have address fields and a telephone field. I was not able to populate data for the phone field. The same report works fine in v7.

I would appreciate if any of you can share me an idea on this.

Thanks
Peru

can you see the phone data if you drop it on the report outside the text box?

If i place it outside the text object and browse the field data im able to see the data, however if i run the report im not getting any data

right click on the text field and select format text. Make sure the "Can grow" box is checked on.

Just as a matter of terminology and not trying to be an A-hole, you are NOT working with a text object, you are working with an alphanumeric database field. A text object will NEVER change, it is a static value. I think everyone knows what you are talking about but it is always good to use the correct term in these forums.

That aside, are your address and phone numbers in the same table? I have seen incorrect table linking cause this type of behavior.

If you are still having problems, please post again, I have solved many problems by posting to this forum.

Is this a text field in which you have "embedded" database fields?

I have had many problems at one time with this kind of approach and abandoned that completely....not the least problem being performance.

Why don't you compose a formula field instead? They are usually quite simple to do and maintain and have no performance problems.
