I'm trying to use a Mac (iMac) as a backup machine for my PC.
Problem is transfering files. I set up file sharing. I share everything on both computers.
I've added a seperate nic card just for this with a static ip address.
Even though my pc says it has sent and received packets.
On the Mac i can see the pc folder but that's about it.
I've had to use bluetooth usb devices but is too slow for hundreds of MB's at a time.
HELP PLEASE

More info. You should not need a second nic card for this. You could also try ftp between the two computers.

I'm using my built-in eithernet for my dsl.
I've tried to ftp to the ip address but i think my ftp software is trying to use the usual path that i use for uploading website files (Internet).
Even though i allow ftp access in Mac OS X and personal file sharing -- the best i can get is to "see" my mshome workgroup folder.
I've shared way more that i want to already whatwith the viruses & worms going around.
Any ideas???
Tom
P.S. What info do you need -- i'd be glad to provide it.

I decided to use Timbuktu on both the PC & Mac.
It's not lightening (anywhere from 1400kbps to 800kbps) but considering that it's also changing file extemsions so i can work with the files on a Mac -- it's not bad.
Plus i can actually "See" and "use" the Macs from my PC. Open and close programs, check e-mail, etc.
Thanks for everything,
Tom
