I am looking for best method to move a file from a laptop to a desktop by means other than network or floppy, with control remaining within VFP. I don't want my users to have to "know" anything, just hook up cable similar to laplink or fastwire and press a button on their VFP application. I am considering using fastwire, but want to know if something better exists.

Thanks

Laplink now has a version that uses USB cables, which should be pretty fast. You should be able to to use VFP to automate the file copies once the connection has been established. If the files are small and your computer has an infrared port you should be able to get an infrared port for the desktop and copy the files that way. Again it is basically a simple file copy once the connection has been made.
