Dear all,

I would like to know if there is any file that can help to control what host(s) to deny or allow to access my local system when these remote hosts try to access mine by using remote login commands like telnet, tn, ftp, etc. Is there any file named like hosts.allow or hosts.deny?

Thank you.

Hi,

view the file /etc/hosts.equiv, it can satisfy your request.

Thank you for yr reply.

But does /etc/hosts.equiv control remote access for command like telnet as well?

Correct me if I'm wrong; don't both /etc/hosts.equiv and $HOME/.rhosts only control access for commands like rlogin, rsh, rcp, lpd, rdist, and rdump; but not for telnet, tn, and ftp?
