Hi,

Our Intranet uses ASP, with the File System Object to display specific folders and subsequently excel spreadsheets.

This has worked no problems at all for months - a few days ago our web server went down and we recieved the message "cannot display page" whenever accessing the Intranet. This was rectified within a few hours BUT ever since we cannot seem to access the excel spreadsheets (they simply do not appear, although they are there!) through the File System Object - although the folders to the spreadsheets display fine.

Any idea what maybe going on here? I am not a member of the IT team and I didn't write the code but I am the closest thing the company has to being a web developer!

Any help very much appreciated.

Sense the folders show up it doesn't sound like there is a problem with the object unless they are being viewed in another manner. It may be a security problem. Waht exactely went wrong on the server? Have you checked IIS so see if something is array there? Also have you tried browsing the pages on the server to see if it shows the same results

The worst mistake you'll ever make is to do something simply the way you know how while ignoring the way it should be done[/sub]

Many thanks for the reply.

That's the problem - no idea what happened to the server I have no access to the server as this is a big "hands off" company - but not so big as they can't fix the problem without the little guy helping e.g. me.

All I know is that everything except displaying the excel spreadsheets is working and its all the folders and spreadsheets are displayed through the same FSO code.

I was just hoping that someone would have experienced the same thing - I have also considered the permissions and may try asking out IT dept to play with these if I don't hear of any other suggestions here.

Any other suggestions much appreciated.
