Hi, I got file system error 1026 when trying to move, rename, delete or even copy a file. The filename of this file was created through Richwin in Chinese language, and hence it's in the form of symbols when Richwin is not loaded. I had gone through the solutions suggested in microsoft website but none worked!!!! The filenames are : "Ò¬xxx.xxx" and "ÍoÍxx.xxx". (I can't remember the whole symbols so I put x's instead)

The problem persist if even I had the Chinese software Richwin loaded. For your information, I am using Win 98 SE English version.

I would appreciate any comments to delete the above mentioned files....

I assume you are trying to delete these files under windows. Have you tried the command prompt yet, it may work. If that does not work try restarting in ms-dos mode hopefully that should take care of it.

Unfortunately I had tried it in DOS as well, I think it returned error 5 or something like that (can't remember, but I can check when I get home later).

Thakns for your suggestion anyway. Any other suggestions???

Try running a scandisk and see what that turns up. You may have some crosslinked files.

Did you try in a MS-DOS window? Or did use restart in MS-DOS mode? If you used restart in msdos mode you could try to use deltree, but use it carefully as this little program could erase your drive if not used correctly.
