file size limit when using disk based backup?

I am running an experiment with a server which has 1000MB of disk space. I set BE 8.6 to use this disk space as a backup folder. When I point to the tape library and utilize tapes I can backup my 450gig just fine. If I point the same backup to the disk file it will fail around 57-62gig repeadedly with nearly 950GB of disk space available?

Is there some windows, BE or other limit that I am running up against that I am not aware of?
