I have seen two files that are small, but when you PDF they multiply in size. I know that it is not my Distiler settings, but something within PAgemaker. I dohave large graphics, but they are not stored in the publication. A file with no graphics is 600kb, but upon distilling it turns out to 100mgs. When trying to PDF pages individually, a page with no graphics will increase to 40 mgs. Any ideas?

Smileys: the PDF size depends on the dpi-settings.
144dpi results in four times larger files compared to
72dpi. For Web: 72..144dpi. For DTP: 300 dpi and
no compression then.
Normally the source images should have not less
pixels than the "projection" on the PDF page, but
re-sizing to some extent doesn´t decrease the quality.
(New computation instead of re-sampling is required)

What about the page that had no graphic? When Distilling the file, it turned out to 40mgs. What do you think cause the issue? Thank You!

Smilieys: read your post once again: the size increases
even for files without graphics.
The text is not relevant. The fonts are also not relevant
(let´s say 50kByte each fully embedded font).
An empty page with some text and partly embedded fonts
(only necessary characters) requires in a test 6 kBytes.
Sorry - no explanation. ----G.Hoffmann

Also no EPS ? Pure text, nothing else ?

Yes, there was only text on page 2 when it was distilled as a single page and come out to 40 mgs. This is not the only file either. It happens randomly, but is not an isolated issue. The images through out the document can range from an EPS to a Tiff. I can not seem to locate an setting in Pagemaker that would cause this issue, nor do I know if there is some sort of conflict within the file. Thank you for trying s-)
