Anybody know of a way of compressing files in Excel like you can in Access? I need to make sure a spreadsheet can fit onto a floppy disk but without using any zipping methods. The people who are using the spreadsheet work offshore and need to be able to leave a copy of the spreadsheet on the rig.

The only thing that I know of is that saving it as a text file, or in a delimited format cuts the size a good deal. (I experimented with a 16k Excel format sheet and dropped it to 1k). Goo Luck, Kimi

Have you tried everything (remove unnecessary formattings, sheets, sheet headers)? Use Excel4 saving format if possible. You can get the minimum size by using the KimiSue's tip. Try load that text file back to Excel and see how much Excel 'fatted' the file. Especially Excel5 puts easily extra weight if you apply some font or sheet formattings.
Again, good luck
