What is the maximum file size that I can create in AIX 4.3.3?

I know the actual maximum file size is 2G and I need to enable large file for more than 2G. But I cannot create the file than 1G. After I update fsize= -1(default fsize is about 2G) in /etc/security/limits and reboot the server, I can make files more than 2G.. I thought limits file is related to in case when I need more than 2G size files..

What is the truth about maximum file size in 4.3.3??

Jan,

You are correct about f/sizes 1GB based on limits defaults. 2GB max. unless the filesystem is large file enabled.

After a reboot if you cannot create a file larger than 2 gigs. then I suggest that the filesystem is not large enabled, use lsfs -q to check, the bf=true flag should be set on the filesystem in question. If it is false it is not large enabled.

Cheers

You need to create the filesystem BIG FILE ENABLED to support files with than 2G in size. Remember that.
I hope it works...
