Hi all,
I have a Laptop running Vista Ultimate 32 bit & a Desktop running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. File sharing & Network discovery is enabled on both Machines. They are both members of the same Workgroup.
The problem is that I can only access files on the Win7 PC from the Vista PC if I boot the Win7 PC first. If the Vista PC is booted first I can ping the Win7 PC and see it in the network folder but not access its files - I don't get prompted for it's username & password. The only way I have found to fix this is to reboot the Vista PC. Once the Vista PC has been rebooted I am prompted for the Win7 PC's username & password and can access it's files normally.
With the Win7 PC, file sharing works fine regardless of which PC is booted first.
Any help would be much appreciated.
