File Sharing between two Mac OS 10

Hi,
I have two Mac that I need to share the files on both hard dries, I'm trying to use the ethernet, but not sure how to set them up to connect and see each other.
Any suggestion ??

Here is a step by step process that I followed and it worked great (with ethernet cable).

Thanks, I think I should you crossover cable, right ??

Some claim not, but I used a cross-over cable. It costs a little more ($5-10 ??), but I got what I wanted and never had a problem with it.
