Hello
Quite simply I'd like to allow anonymous access to a share. But I'm having some problems.

The share is on a 2k3 domain server, clients and servers on the domain have no problem. Some XP Machines and all 98 machines outside the domain cannot access the share without prompting for a password.

I have added anonymous user to the NTFS and Share permissions and set the domain policy "let evryone perms apply to anon users" to enabled

Any thoughts on what to try next would be appreciated

Have you tried giving "Everyone" rights to the share?

I would try giving "Everyone" Read, Write, and Execute rights to the shared folder or what ever rights you need them to have, it just may be read and execute, but I'm not sure what you need.

Not a 100% but you might have to look into enabling and using the local guest account on the domain server.

Have you added the share to the shares that can be accessed anonymously?

Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Local Security Policy

- Local Policies
+ Security Options
+ Network Shares: Shares that can be accessed anonymously

yep , i have added it to the list of shears that can be accessed anonoymously in the secpol
