Is there any simple way to create a share on one server to point to data on another server. I know this can be accomplished using DFS, but I am looking for somthing a little more simple.

We have a large area of data that recently moved from one server to another and some applications are still trying to reference the UNC name of the share on the previous server. Both servers still exist on the network. The data had to be moved because of disk space issues.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is change the original server name then make a static wins/dns mapping to the new server name with the old server name. That make sense?
