Hi Everyone,
I recently migrated from win2k3 server to win2k8 server in my home server setup (used for serving up media throughout my house and allow remote web scheduling for my pvr etc.)
Anyways, I have a number of network shares that I have migrated from win2k3 to win2k8 (clean install of windows, but the shares are on a different hard disk). I have recreated a user for the shares and created the shares on the disk. When I try to connect to the shares using the user I have created for this purpose I get the following error (on a win XP machine): "Login failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer"
I have set the file and sharing permissions for the folders and the user has the correct authority. I have also verified that the "Access this computer from the network" policy is enabled for everyone.
Now - I can connect to the shares if I use computername\username for the username rather than just username. However from some of my devices I am not able to specify the computername and username. I have done some reading and it looks like interactive log on is required and remote log on is blocked.
Does anyone know how to enable remote log on for file shares? Or does anyone have any experience with this issue?
Thanks and regards,
Stephen
