What I want is to create a VPN that can access a files on the file server in my domain from anywhere. This is the only server I want remote access to. I can give the server its own Class C address for access from internet to avoid routing the packets by policy/port.
I've never setup a VPN which is why I'm here for help.
After doing some research I decided since my firewall's (Juniper NetScreen50) supports IPSEC VPN that is the way I want to go.
My network is Windows 2000 Native Mode, running AD on Win2K3 server.
File Server also runs Win2K3.

I've looked at some VPN clients as well as the built in Microsoft VPN. Not sure where to start to get this going though. Any help you guys could give me would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

Dial-up VPNs with the Netscreen 50 ought to be fairly straightforward. You should definitely get some sort of IPSec client app like Juniper's Netscreen Remote or some other IPsec compliant app.

Here is a KB article on the subject:

On another note, there are other VPN protocols out there. I only mention IPsec since you mentioned you already have an NS50. But the newer SSL VPNs are much easier to use and work pretty well without a need to pre-install a client app. Also you can use PPTP which Windows supports. But you will need to allow the PPTP traffic through your Netscreen since the Netscreen cannot be a PPTP tunnel endpoint.
