Hi Gurus,
We need advise in selection of a server, We are thinking of building a linux (redhat/fedora) file server serving about 100 machines with about 300 users accounts that can backup and have hot plugable scsi raid array etc we need to have an idea on the specs that would be required to serv all the users without too much of overload. Price limit is £3500. your advise would be appreciated.
Many Thanks

You might want to look at in the USA who sells NAS systems that run linux w/raid from flash rom (CF card). Currently the config for 4x300GB hot-swap HDD is < $2,500 USD so that's well within your range.

For a much less expensive approach take a look at for their NASlite+ product. Very inexpensive and allows use of existing or new hdwe to do just what you're asking. I've been running NASlite+ produce for about 6+ months now with excellent results 24x7.

Just my $.02 USD
