File Recovery of formatted partition

I recently imaged a users PC (Fat32) with a copy of windows 2000 (NTFS). There is one file that I need to get back if possible.
Does anyone know if this is possible or if there is a software solution somewhere for the recovery of files. Preferably freeware, shareware.
