My hard drive went bad and had to recover my work files using vendor software. When moving or copying the files they came over in a 'read-only' mode. How can I 'release' the read only function and get back the update ownership?

Thanks in advance, many many worksheets are affected.

Joe

Joe,

Right-click on the folder, choose "Properties", and then un-check "Read only". It'll likely give you an option to include sub-folders. To finish, choose "Apply".

I hope this helps :)

Dale,

You've made my day/week/month. It worked like a charm but worksheet by worksheet. It was not protected on the folder level for some strange reason but every worksheet within the folder was 'read-only'. Thanks again for taking the time to help me out.
