We're using Crystal 2008. We use the CR Special Field 'File Path and Name' in all reports. Sometimes, Crystal will use UNC instead of Mapped Drives to indicate path.

How can we force Crystal to use the Mapped Drives?

Note: The people it happens with use MS_Access a lot. The non-Access users have not had a problem with the field.

Any advice on resolving/troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi,
In most cases using UNC is the preferred method of accessing file system objects. What issues are folks having with that and MS Access?

We use the SpecialField to display the Path\Name on the report.

Instead of getting M:\July\Report.rpt, some users get \\server\dir\dir\dir\dir\dir\July\Report.rpt. The text is much longer and overlaps other fields.

I've noticed it only happens with people who use MS_Access a lot. It might not be related, but it hasn't happened to all users, nor has it been consistent.

If someone else opens the Rpt, the Path\Name is mapped, so the setting seems related to the computer, not the report itself.

Thanks!

Check to see if the users who see a UNC path opened the report from a network locations instead of from a mapped folder.

If you can't get to the bottom of this, and you need a quick solution, instead of showing the special field, use a formula that first attempt to find and replace the UNC path in the special field with the mapped path. Use the Replace() function for this.
