Hi folks,

A couple of general questions really,
1. What is the best way to organise the files on my Mac Hdd? At the moment i have one account which is admin and the one i use from day to day. It is encrypted using file vault. The problem is that i have lots of video and audio that is being transferred, manipulated, deleted etc continually -i also, do not want this to be encrypted, i have tried putting it all in the shared users folder, but iTunes is having babies now that i have changed it's "home library". Any suggestions on how to organise my Hdd effectively? -I am still in the Windows mindset although i now prefer my mac hugely, albeit after 12 months of searching for replacement apps and other ways of doing things.

2. Where is all of the cached stuff stored? in my user's account library? I want to 'clean' my hdd are there any apps for doing this or an easy way to do this manually, i am not worried about loosing settings.

ps. i am using 10.3 if it is not apparent!

Thanks in Advance,

Are you using 10.3.2? Some of what you describe was a problem before 10.3.2

Hello, thanks for your reply.

I was using 10.3.? I am not sure, how do you tell, when i go to apple/about this mac/ it just tells me 10.3 I had all of the latest updates from software update so i assume the latest version.

Are they symptoms of using using file vault or 10.3.2 in general?

I have just performed a clean install so i have lost all of that information now, strange thing is that it was fine for about a month and then boom, it goes funny in the space of two days..

When you choose 'About This Mac' from the Apple Menu, it should say version '10.3.2'

If it does not, then you have an older version that needs to be updated. If Software Update does not offer any new updates, you should manually download the 10.3.2 update from apple.com

File Vault was one of the issues resolved. See the changelist on apple.com when you download the update.
