I have the ScanDisc memory card in my camera, and along my pictures I can see a large file that I cannot rename or delete:

MemCard_zdwz1y.png

So, 2 questions:
[ul]
[li]Is this large file needed for operation of my SONY camera?[/li]
[li]If it not needed, how do I get rid of it?[/li]
[/ul]

I did try to delete from Windows Explorer and from DOS command (yes, I remember how to do it the old fashioned way), but... no cigar :-(

The lack of a modified date suggests a filesystem corruption. Some of the reasons that can happen: if the media is not formatted ideally for your device...if your device ran out of battery juice while it was recording video and failed to properly complete a disk write...and a dozen other options.

Copy the material you want to preserve on a backup drive. Run Windows disk repair to fix the filesystem. If that fails to improve the situation, reformat this memory card.

Makes sense. Thanks [thumbsup2]
