I have all my files listing the program with which it opens, say, an image file "cats" says "cats.jpg" and as a result, I have to always type in the program after the dot. Is there a way to just have a file name without needing to indicate the program - every time I change the name, it tells me that I wouldn't be able to open it unless I type in .doc or .jpg.
Thanks a lot.

Open My Computer, Tools, Folder Options, View, check the box for 'Hide extensions for known file types'.
