Hi,

I work at a graphics production co., and I am having an issue with Quark 6.5. If I send a job to any of our printers RIPs, the file shows up as "unknown" and the user shows up as "unknown." These Quark files all have valid filenames, and the same printers pick up file's names just fine from InDesign. If it was only one printer I could see it being a printer problem but it's ALL of them, so I'm starting to think maybe I've got something set up incorrectly in Quark. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like its a bug in quark although should have been fixed by v6.5.

RE: quark 6 bug

"print to a .ps file first using the supplied .PPD file that came with the RIP"

"Our other method is to do a "Save As" of the final document to our protocol for file naming, such as "12345 ABC file" representing the invoice number, client code, and description of the job. What this does is after the RIP is done, is to name the plates accordingly"12345 ABC-blk", "12345 ABC-PAN..286" etc. so that locating the Ripped files later if the pressman need a plate remake is easier."
