I use C Code to perform engineering analysis such as sizing of components structurally, running heat transfer models, etc. These are not windows programs in the sense like parent child windows, with all the API interface, etc. However, My programs have to write to files. With today's complex directory structures, I would like to call the window's file manager as the way to input names of new files or select files for appending.

Does anybody know how to call the file manager without using the "file" API mouse selection routine of a windows application?

Thanks in advance,
Bill Swain
