Hi All,

I'm trying to run a batch file from a crystal report. Within CR9 it runs fine, I've simply added a file hyperlink and referenced it to a batch file.

However as soon as I save it to crystal enterprise, the hyperlink no longer works, its added 'file:///' in front of the file name I've specified.

Has anyone else been able to successfully launch a batch file from enterprise in this manner?

Thanks in Advance

Once a report is published to enterprise, any file you are hyperlinking to needs to live in an appropriate web server folder, not just the windows file path.

I've just successfully tested running a batch file from this URL for a report with a hyperlink to a batch file.

This URL equates to a file [ath of C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\Web Content\Enterprise115

I am using Business Objects Enterprise XI Release 2 on Internet Information Server, but this theory should hold for CE 9 albeit on different paths.

Thanks Groggle,

I take it that you've published the bat file as an object into enterprise and then ran it as a crystal object.

I did try that also but without success, I will give it another go with the info you've given.

However with some trial and error I managed to access the batch file without publishing to enterprise.

I created a secured folder on the crystal server (could have been any other for that matter) stored the batch file in there and reference to it using he file hyperlink. The tricky bit was not to simply browe to it, but instead quote the whole reference including the "file://" bit in the forumla editor.

I works a treat.

Probably not the most technicaly sophisticated solution but I got the desired result.

Thanks again,

Mohammed

My hyperlink to my batch file was from a Crystal Report Text Object. So within the Crystal Report, a hyperlink set under the format of the text object pointed to a batch file, which was located under the address in my initial post.

You can also publish a Web URL hyperlink to BOE XI R2.

When you publish a batch file, a copy of it is placed in the BOE XI R2 Repository so does not need to be placed under a web folder.
