Hi

When we create a new folder on a shared drive, the security permissions automatically add "Everyone" to those permissions.

Where do I look to change these settings or permissions please?

Hi

Checked out the link and this doesn't resolve my issue.

Not sure why I sent you that link after looking at it, maybe I copied the wrong link.....

Lets say your shared folder is "C:Tutorials". Right click on it and go to "Properties" at the bottom of the list. Then click on "Sharing" tab, "Advanced Sharing" button, "Permissions" button.

Also check our in the "Properties", "Security" tab and aslo the "Advanced" button there.

"Silence is golden, duct tape is silver...

Sorry perhaps I didn't make this clear. When anyone creates a folder it automatically adds the user "everyone" to the permissions. What your saying is fine after the folder is created but what I'm looking to do is for "everyone" not to be one of the users when the folder is created. So instead if "Jeff" creates a folder then permissions would be allowed for "Jeff" and I would also want it to default to administrator or perhaps another users name.

Thank yiu

You need to change the permissions on the root/shared folder.

On the root folder, under advanced, uncheck the box for Inherit from Parent. Choose Add when prompted. This keeps all of the current permissions in place. Then you need to remove "Everyone". On the advanced tab again, check the box for "reset child folder permissions and set them to inherit" and click OK.

As long as you have another group in the root/share folder for access, users folder should not inherit the everyone folder again.

That seems to be the answer. Don't have access to the server until Monday but will post back.

Thank you
