A user created a pretty large Excel template for other users that has 26 worksheets.. Here is what is happening.
Users open this read only file from a network drive. They make changes to it, then save it as something else on the same network drive. Then, other users open those files, view them, make any changes, and save them again.
When any version Excel user opens this file, edits, and resaves everything is fine. The problem arises when an Excel 2003 user opens an edited file from an Excel 2000/XP version. When they open the file they get the error:
"File error: data may have been lost."
They have to click "OK" about 50 times before they can get into the workbook. Data that was entered into the text boxes is indeed gone.
The weird thing is this. 2003 users can edit, save, reopen, edit, and save files that were done in 2003 fine.
2000/XP users can edit, save, reopen, edit, and save files that were done in 2000/XP fine.
But when a 2003 user tries to open a file that was edited by a 2000/XP user they get that message.
I've removed a Macro that was in the template and that didn't fix it. I also removed all links using the "findlink" addin..
I can't think of anything else to try. Someone please HELP!!
Thanks!!
