Windows 98, Internet Explorer 6
If I click on a link for a file with a .EXE extension, the save file dialog box comes up and asks me where to save the file. The problem is that instead of saving as a file of type 'applicaiton' with a .EXE extension, it indicates that the file type is 'POSTDATA' and IE changes the extention to .LMJ
Now after the file has been saved, I can manually change the .LMJ extension back to .EXE and the file works as expected. If I do not use Internet Explorer, but use Firefox instead, I can download files fine, and the extension does not get changed.
I have already run multiple virus and spyware scans, used 'Hijack This', and 'IE fix', purged the temporary internet files folder, and the Windows TEMP folder, and reset all of IE's settings to defaults, but the issue remains.
Anyone know what's causing IE to change the file type during the download?
- James.
My memory is not as good as it should be, and neither is my memory.
I have forgotten more than I can remember
