Instead I get a File Download box. When I click on open, my PHP file opens in Notepad. Can anyone help me to get my files to open in my browser (IE)?

Thanks.

Kara

PHP is processed on the web server and then served to the browser after all the PHP code has been executed.

It does not work like JavaScript or html; both of these are processed by the browser itself.

So if you want to test php code on your home computer you need to have a web server running, and then install the php engine on the web server, finally point the browser to the address of the php file like: and you will then be able to test your code.

You can get a web server from apache.org and the php engine from php.net for free. There are other places out there that offer an all in one installer for Windows; I can't seem to remember where at the moment.

Hope this helps.
